How to buy a domain safely

The seller only gets paid once the domain has reached you.

  1. 1

    Choose the domain

Buy at a fixed price, make an offer or join an auction.

  2. 2

    Pay safely

By card, through Stripe. The money is held, not sent straight to the seller.

  3. 3

    Receive the domain

The seller makes the transfer and you follow each step on the transaction page.

  4. 4

    Confirm receipt

Only then does the seller get paid. If something isn't right, you open a dispute.

Questions about buying

How do I know the seller really owns the domain?

Every listed domain is verified with a DNS TXT record that only whoever controls the domain can add. The check is repeated regularly, and listings that fail it are suspended automatically.

How do I pay?

By card, through Stripe. The money doesn't go straight to the seller: it is held until you confirm you received the domain, or automatically after 5 days without a dispute.

How do I get the domain after paying?

The seller starts the transfer (authorisation code or, for .ro, a change of registrant), and you see every step on the transaction page. It usually takes a few hours to 5 days.

Can I negotiate the price?

Yes, on domains marked "negotiable" or "Make an offer". The seller can accept, decline or counter, and an accepted offer becomes a transaction with protected payment.

What if I don't receive the domain?

Open a dispute from the transaction page while the money is held. If the transfer didn't happen, you get the full amount back.

Do I pay commission as a buyer?

No. You only pay the listed price. The platform commission is deducted from the seller's proceeds.
